About K9 Grillz…
The mission of K9 Grillz is to fundamentally change the approach of veterinary dentistry to include standardized Tier 1 veterinarian supervised non-anesthetic dentistry as a first option in preventative care. We believe veterinary preventative non-anesthetic and anesthetic dentistry (when necessary), must work hand in hand and is the only model that can effectively offer true comprehensive preventative dental care for pets.
In the state of California veterinarian supervised non-anesthetic dental cleaning is legal and is considered to be a medical procedure by the California Veterinary Medical Board that must only be performed under direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian. Veterinarians need to work together to properly address and prevent preventable dental disease with an affordable, safe, and standardized method of TIER 1 Veterinarian Supervised Non-Anesthetic Dental Cleanings AND anesthetic dentistry when necessary. (Tier 1 – veterinarian developed, owned, and operated). We believe tier 2 and tier 3 non-anesthetic dental services are unqualified and regulations should be changed to have such services on considered illegal operations and shut down. See our Tier level description on our Instagram @k9grillz.
Our approach to veterinary dentistry must mimic human preventative dental care. Start young, stay consistent with brushings and cleanings, utilize anesthesia whenever problems arise that warrant it and ideally perform periodic anesthetized dental radiographic surveillance every 3-5 years (*individual patients needs may vary).
